These carbide inserts are great for DIY turning tools.
A great weekend project: Simply use some bar stock, machine a notch for the insert. Tap a thread for fastening the carbide tip, and make a handle.
Please note: If you haven't tried it, turning with carbide tips is fantastic. They absolutely rip through wood and leave a great surface. But due to the nature of carbide steel - the tips are more brittle/fragile than mild steel. If you drop a chisel or hit a hardwood knot, the life expectancy of the tip will be shortened. Please handle these tools with care, and you'll get great life out of them.
